About F.P. Journe

François-Paul Journe presented his first wristwatches under his own name in 1999, after two decades building one-off pieces and movements for other houses. The manufacture is in Geneva, and the motto engraved on every movement, Invenit et Fecit, means what it says: the calibre was conceived and made in-house.

The signature is a small catalogue of hand-wound and automatic movements in 18K rose gold, each carrying a family reference the brand reuses across case metals, dials and bracelets. The Chronomètre Souverain, the Chronomètre à Résonance and the Tourbillon Souverain are the references most collectors start with.

Production is low and allocation is by boutique, so most pieces change hands on the secondary market — where the same executions trade well above their original price.
