Digital hours and seconds
The F.P. Journe Vagabondage III, reference VIII, in 18K 6N gold, the Flat Tortue case 45.2 × 37.5 mm and 7.84 mm high, on a leather strap with 6N gold folding clasp; smoked sapphire dial with 18K white gold apertures, blued and ivory-coloured steel hands. Manually wound calibre 1514: jumping hours and seconds.
Vagabondage III, produced between 2016 and 2019, is the third and last edition of the series: 69 pieces in platinum, 68 in 18K 6N gold and 10 in a platinum jewellery version. F.P. Journe says it is the only manufacture to design and produce a calibre specifically for a series of 147 pieces. With it the three digital displays were complete: hours on Vagabondage I, jumping hours and minutes on Vagabondage II, jumping hours and seconds here. Owners of Vagabondage I and II had priority to buy it with the same series number.
The case is the Flat Tortue of Vagabondage II, at the same size. A window at 10 o'clock shows the hour as a numeral and a window at 6 o'clock the seconds, both framed in white; the minutes are read by a central white hand and the power reserve at 1 o'clock by a blued steel hand. Behind the unsigned smoked sapphire dial, framed by an outer dial with screwed elements, is calibre 1514 in 18K rose gold, hand-wound, with a remontoir d'égalité that advances the time train once a second.

The jumping digital seconds, which F.P. Journe presents as a world first, are why the calibre exists: they depend on its patented one-second constant-force device, which releases the train in one-second steps so the seconds numeral can jump once a second.
