Day and night on the Octa base
The F.P. Journe Octa Jour/Nuit, reference A, from the limited Ruthenium series, in platinum with the ruthenium on gold and whitened guilloché silver dial. 40 mm and 10.6 mm high, self-winding on the Octa calibre 1300, with a day/night indication, a large date and the power reserve.
The Octa Jour/Nuit in the Ruthenium series was produced between 2002 and 2005, a limited series numbered 1 to 99 in a 40 mm platinum case with a dial of ruthenium on gold and whitened guilloché silver. It is the self-winding Octa calibre 1300 with a large date, a power reserve and a day/night indication.
The day/night indication shows whether the hours on the dial belong to the day or the night, which the hands alone cannot say. Hours and minutes are off-centre with small seconds at 4.30, a large date that changes by instant jump and a power reserve indicator. The movement winds in both directions through an off-centre rotor, with a slipping mainspring that releases at full wind rather than being overstrained.

- Balance and escapementIn-line escapement with 15 teeth; free-sprung balance with four weights and a flat Anachron microflamed spring laser-welded to a Nivatronic collet, on a mobile stud holder with a pinned stud.
- FinishingCircular stripes on the bridges, partly circular-grained base plate, polished screw heads with chamfered slots, pegs with polished rounded ends, steelwork with polished chamfers and straight graining.
