About Greubel Forsey
Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey founded the atelier in 2004 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, on the idea that the tourbillon still had something left to prove. Their first invention inclined it at 30 degrees and doubled it; the numbered Fundamental Inventions that followed — the Tourbillon 24 Secondes, the Double Balancier, the Mechanical Computer behind the perpetual calendar — are what each collection is named for.
Production is measured in dozens of pieces a year, and most references are limited runs stated on the case: eleven, twenty-two, eighty-eight. Finishing is the other signature — flat black polishing, hand-frosted plates, bevels done by hand — carried to its end in the Hand Made pieces, where the whole watch, movement and case, is made without CNC.
The catalogue on greubelforsey.com is short and current: five collections, a handful of timepieces each. Earlier references trade on the secondary market, which is where most of them are found.
