A green dial for Dubai
The F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain from the Dubai limited series, reference CSD, in platinum on a leather strap, with the green dial, 18K white gold appliqué Arabic numerals and rhodium-plated steel hands. 40 mm and 8 mm high, manually wound calibre 1304 in 18K rose gold, with small seconds at 7:30.
F.P. Journe opened its first boutique in Dubai on 30 October 2019, in the Dubai Mall with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons; by the brand's count it was its tenth, after Tokyo, Hong Kong, Geneva, Paris, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Beirut and Kiev. To mark it, the brand made a limited series of 99 platinum Chronomètre Souverain with a green dial, produced in 2020. François-Paul Journe chose green for its meaning in the Middle East, where it stands for chance, fortune and fertility.
The Chronomètre Souverain is F.P. Journe's precision chronometer on the pattern of the marine chronometers of the early nineteenth century. Calibre 1304 is 4 mm thick, with base plate and bridges in 18K rose gold. Its two barrels work in parallel and deliver a nearly linear force to the escapement for over fifty-six hours, and the free-sprung balance, regulated by four inertia weights on a flat Anachron spring, beats at 21,600 vibrations an hour. The cased watch is 8 mm high, with central hours and minutes and small seconds at 7:30.
For collectors
The numeral script, Arabic or Indian, is the only difference between the two versions; both are applied in 18K white gold on the same green dial, with the same rhodium-plated hands.
