The house
About A. Lange & Söhne
Ferdinand Adolph Lange trained under the watchmaker Johann Friedrich Gutkaes, travelled through France, England and Switzerland, and in 1845 founded a manufacture in Glashütte, Saxony. His sons Richard and Emil Lange carried the work on.
In 1990, 145 years after the founding, Walter Lange re-founded A. Lange & Söhne in Glashütte, and the first collection was presented four years later.
The current collections are the Lange 1 with its outsize date, the Saxonia (home of the Datograph chronographs), the 1815, the Richard Lange, the Zeitwerk with its jumping numerals, the Odysseus and the Cabaret.
