Resonance in the Ruthenium series
The F.P. Journe Chronomètre à Résonance, reference R, from the limited Ruthenium series, in platinum with the ruthenium on gold and whitened guilloché silver dial. 40 mm and 9.1 mm high, manually wound on calibre 1499.3: two movements side by side, a 24-hour dial on the left and a 12-hour dial on the right.
Produced between 2001 and 2005, the Ruthenium Chronomètre à Résonance was a limited series numbered 1 to 99. It pairs a platinum case with a dial of ruthenium on gold and whitened guilloché silver, and runs on calibre 1499.3.
The calibre holds two movements side by side, each with its own escapement, balance and dial. The watch is named for resonance, the principle by which two balances running close together settle into a common rate; the two balances here share no mechanical link. The left dial reads 24 hours and the right 12 hours, each with small seconds at 6 o'clock, and the power reserve sits at 11.
For collectors
Because each dial is set on its own from the crown at 12 o'clock, turning one way for the left and the other for the right, the two can show different times, the left dial on a 24-hour scale.
