The F.P. Journe Octa UTC, reference UTC, in 18K 6N gold, with the blue-on-gold and whitened guilloché silver dial and a painted world map on a sapphire disc; blued and 5N gilt steel hands. 40 mm and 10.6 mm high, self-winding calibre 1300.3 with home time, time zones and large date.
F.P. Journe launched its UTC in 2011 and marked its end in 2020 with this limited series of 20 pieces, 10 in platinum and 10 in 18K 6N gold, sold only through F.P. Journe Boutiques. The name follows the time standard: Greenwich Mean Time, based on the Earth's rotation, was replaced in 1972 by Coordinated Universal Time, based on international atomic time. The brand's patented system shows the world's time zones in full hours, by the modern standard, and indicates summer and winter time.
Local time is read on off-centre hours and minutes with blue hands, and it is linked to the calendar, so the date follows the time where the wearer is. A 5N gilt steel hand shows home time on a 24-hour scale, and a sapphire disc at 7:30, laser-engraved and painted with the Earth divided into time zones, is a first for the brand by its account. There are also small seconds at 4:30, a large date and a retrograde power reserve at 9 o'clock on a 120-hour scale. Months of 28 to 31 days are corrected by hand.

The series closes the UTC rather than opening it: F.P. Journe made these 20 pieces, 10 in each metal, to mark the end of a model launched in 2011.

- Time zones in full hoursThe patented mechanism works in whole-hour steps, the modern standard for time zones, and indicates summer and winter time.

- Crown and pusherThree crown positions: time zone clockwise and date anti-clockwise in position 2, time in position 3. The Earth disc is corrected by a secured pusher at 4 o'clock, and the date jumps instantly.
- Octa automatic baseCalibre 1300.3 in 18K rose gold, wound in one direction by an off-centre 22K gold rotor on a self-locking ball bearing. The brand rates it for precise timekeeping over 120 hours, within a total autonomy of 160 ± 10 hours.
