The Octa with central hands
The F.P. Journe Octa Divine Black Label, reference D, in platinum with a blackened gold and whitened silver dial and rhodium-plated steel hands. Self-winding calibre 1300.3 in 18K rose gold, with central hours and minutes, large date, retrograde power reserve and moon phase; 10.6 mm high.
The Black Label Octa Divine pairs a platinum case, offered in 36 or 40 mm, with a blackened gold and whitened silver dial and rhodium-plated steel hands. F.P. Journe gives its production as 2008 to 2021. The brand describes the Black Label collection as a platinum, black-dial line available only to owners of an F.P. Journe watch and sold only in its boutiques and Espaces, and notes that the Divine was the only model in its Classique collection made in 36 mm.
The Divine brings the Octa automatic under central hours and minutes, with the small seconds at 4:30, the large date and a retrograde power reserve. The hour and minute circles are screwed to the dial, a construction the brand has patented.
Calibre 1300.3 is the Octa automatic in 18K rose gold. F.P. Journe gives it two reserve figures: 120 hours over which it rates the watch for precision timekeeping, and an effective reserve of 160 ± 10 hours. The off-centre rotor, in 22K 5N gold, turns on a self-locking ball bearing and winds in one direction, so small movements of the wrist are used for winding. The moon is a metallic sapphire disc driven by its own wheel train, moving one notch each time the date changes.
For collectors
The reserve indicator is scaled to 120 hours while the effective reserve is 160 ± 10 hours. The two figures answer different questions: 120 hours is the span over which F.P. Journe claims precision timekeeping, and by the brand's account the Octa was the first automatic movement to reach it; the extra hours are running time beyond that claim.

- Long, low-torque mainspringJourne extended the mainspring's development rather than adding a wheel to the train, keeping enough energy at the balance for a stable rate across the reserve. F.P. Journe specifies 280° amplitude dial-up at 12 hours and 220° at 90 hours.
- Ball-bearing rotorThe off-centre 22K 5N gold rotor runs on a self-locking ball bearing that lets it drive one way and locks it the other, so the watch is wound by the smallest movements.
- Variable inertia balanceFree-sprung, with four inertia weights and a flat microflamed Anachron spring; no regulator index acts on the spring. In-line lever escapement, 15-tooth wheel.
- Moon discA metallic sapphire disc advances one notch with each date change through a dedicated wheel train. In crown position 2, date and moon are set by turning in opposite directions; position 3 sets the time.
- DialCentral hands, small seconds at 4:30, large date, retrograde reserve at 10 o'clock. Hour and minute circles screwed to the dial; blackened gold with whitened silver, rhodium-plated steel hands.
