One calibre, three metals
The F.P. Journe Chronographe Rattrapante, reference CM, in 18K 6N gold on the matching bracelet, matte hammered with rubber inserts, with the ruthenium-covered guilloché silver dial and 5N gold numerals. 44 mm and 12.1 mm high, hand-wound split-seconds calibre 1518 in 18K rose gold, with a very large date.
This version of the Chronographe Rattrapante has rubber inserts on case and bracelet and was made in three metals, each with its own dial; F.P. Journe gives its production as between 2018 and 2020. The movement is calibre 1518 throughout, but its material follows the case: aluminium alloy in the titanium watch, 18K rose gold in the platinum and gold ones. The ceramic-inlaid tachymeter bezel and the typography of the numerals recall the brand's Only Watch 2017 chronograph, which inspired the movement.
The chronograph is driven by direct gearing through a rocking pinion, which the brand uses to keep the hand from jumping at the start. The pusher at 2 o'clock starts, stops and resets; the one at 4 o'clock works the rattrapante. F.P. Journe describes fitting the very large date, read in a 5.20 × 2.80 mm window, into a total movement height of 6.80 mm as a substantial development. The reserve is 80 ± 2 hours without the chronograph, which the brand says leaves the chronograph and rattrapante usable after two days.
For collectors
The three executions differ below the dial as well as on it. Only the titanium watch has calibre 1518 in aluminium alloy, with a slate grey dial and luminescent numerals and sapphire counters; the gold and platinum watches keep a rose gold movement and guilloché silver dials, covered with ruthenium on the gold, blue-mauve on the platinum.
