The F.P. Journe Octa Sport, reference ARS, in aluminium alloy on the aluminium alloy bracelet, both with rubber inserts, with the aluminium alloy and sapphire dial and applied luminescent indexes and numerals. 42 mm and 11.6 mm high, self-winding Octa calibre 1300.3 in aluminium alloy, with a large date and day and night indication.
The Octa Sport was the second model of F.P. Journe's lineSport, after the Centigraphe Sport, which the brand launched in June 2011 as, in its account, the first mechanical wristwatch ever made in aluminium. The Octa Sport's case, and its bracelet where fitted, are in an aluminium alloy used in aeronautics, and the brand gives the watch's weight as 53 grams. It was produced between 2011 and 2014, on the aluminium bracelet or on a black rubber strap.
The self-winding Octa calibre 1300.3 is made here in aluminium alloy rather than the 18K rose gold F.P. Journe uses for its other movements, a change the brand describes as technically difficult: it developed treatments to make the aluminium scratch resistant, corrosion resistant and anti-allergic. The Octa's properties are kept. The balance is free-sprung with four adjustable inertia weights, the off-centre rotor winds in one direction and carries a tungsten segment to raise the winding speed, and the reserve of 160 ± 10 hours is read at 10:30.

The movement material is the defining fact. F.P. Journe uses 18K rose gold for its other movements; this aluminium alloy Octa was reserved for the lineSport.
