The Tourbillon 24 Secondes Architecture is built so that the calibre can be seen from above, below and all the way round the caseband: a convex conical case with a sapphire ring around its whole perimeter. The brand says no earlier Greubel Forsey was built this way, and that it has used lateral sapphire apertures since 2007 but never at this scale. Titanium, 45.5 mm, 11 pieces, regulated by the 24-second tourbillon.
The 354 components are set asymmetrically on several three-dimensional planes and seen through a large opening on the dial side; the brand's account is that each part's position was decided as much by how it reads as by what it does — dense, but not crowded. Around the aperture, engraved in relief on the case, are the nine principles the brand set for the watch: Architecture, Harmonie, Innovation, Technique, Bienfacture, Passion, Science, Exclusivité, Créativité. From the front the case reads as round; from any other angle the conical profile and the sapphire band show. The tourbillon turns once in 24 seconds, and the reserve is 90 hours.
For collectors
90 hours is the longest reserve among the brand's current watches, and 11 the smallest run among those made as an edition; the two Hand Made pieces and the Grande Sonnerie are made by the year rather than by the run.
