The reference 992/190G-001 is a pocket watch from Patek Philippe's Rare Handcrafts collection, a unique piece in white gold whose case back is a planisphere — the continental plates and the structure of the ocean floor rendered in relief. The case is 44.1 mm across and 9.15 mm high with a solid back, humidity- and dust-protected only and not water-resistant. It is delivered with a white gold stand modelled on a celestial double ellipse, whose oval blue quartz base carries a blue sapphire cabochon (0.36 ct), and with a white gold chain suspending a champlevé enamel medallion showing a compass rose.

The back is made in two passes. The engraver chiselled the sea bed by hand; the enameller then coated it in translucent blue and, with transparent enamels in 4 colours, built the sense of depth in the mid-ocean ridges and the trenches. After 8 firings at close to 775°C the engraver returned to refine the continents, which stand in relief above the enamel. The dial is flinqué: hand-cut guilloché with the meridians and parallels engraved over it, showing through translucent blue enamel after 6 firings at about 765°C. Applied Breguet numerals and faceted Dauphine-style hands are white gold, and the crown carries a blue sapphire cabochon (0.34 ct). The movement is the manual-winding calibre 17''' LEP PS with small seconds: 38.65 mm across, 3.8 mm high, 157 parts, 18 jewels, a Breguet balance spring at 18,000 semi-oscillations an hour, at least 50 hours of reserve and the Patek Philippe Seal.
