The Patek Philippe Grand Complications Minute Repeater, Retrograde Perpetual Calendar, Haute Joaillerie, reference 5304/301R-001, in rose gold with bezel and lugs set with 58 baguette-cut diamonds and a transparent sapphire dial, on a shiny black alligator strap. Self-winding calibre R 27 PS QR LU with retrograde date and moon phases; 43 mm, 13.3 mm high.
The reference 5304/301R-001 is a self-winding minute repeater with a retrograde perpetual calendar, in its Haute Joaillerie form: the rose gold bezel and lugs are set with 58 baguette-cut diamonds and the fold-over clasp with 22 more, 80 stones in all. Its dial is a transparent sapphire crystal, so the calendar mechanism is watched at work, with the day, month and leap year carried on sapphire discs beneath their apertures. The case, 43 mm across and 13.3 mm high, has white gold inserts on the flanks and lugs engraved with a leaf pattern, which Patek Philippe says is echoed on the minirotor; it is humidity- and dust-protected only, with a sapphire crystal back.
The calibre R 27 PS QR LU is wound by a 22K gold off-centre minirotor decorated with the leaf pattern; it measures 28 mm across and 7.23 mm high, with 510 parts and 41 jewels, and runs at 21,600 semi-oscillations an hour (3 Hz) on a Gyromax® balance with a Spiromax® balance spring, for 38 to 48 hours of power reserve, under the Patek Philippe Seal. The strike is on two classic gongs. The date is retrograde — printed around the circumference of the dial and indicated by a hand tipped with a red half-moon — while the day, month and leap year read in apertures, the moon phases by hand, and small seconds complete the display. Date and minute markers are printed in white with rose-gilt powdered dots, and the skeletonised leaf-shaped hands are white gold, black varnished.
