The Patek Philippe Grand Complications Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” Minute Repeater, Haute Joaillerie, reference 5260/355R-001, in rose gold with the bezel set with multicoloured baguette-cut sapphires and diamonds, a dial paved with diamonds, on a matte beige composite strap. Self-winding calibre R 27 chiming on two classic gongs; 38.8 mm, 10.1 mm high.
The reference 5260/355R-001 is the strap execution of the Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” minute repeater, which Patek Philippe presents as the first minute repeater in the Aquanaut collection and as a meeting of Haute Horlogerie, the line's casual-chic style and Haute Joaillerie. The rose gold case, 38.8 mm across and 10.1 mm high, has its bezel set with 40 multicoloured baguette-cut sapphires and 40 baguette-cut diamonds in invisible setting, and 8 baguette-cut diamonds on the lugs; it is humidity- and dust-protected only, with a sapphire crystal back. It is delivered with three composite straps — matte beige as fitted, matte white and red supplied — on a patented fold-over clasp set with 10 baguette-cut diamonds.
The self-winding calibre R 27 strikes, on demand, the hour, the quarters and the minutes elapsed since the last quarter on two classic gongs. It is wound by a 22K gold off-centre guilloched minirotor and measures 28 mm across and 5.05 mm high, with 327 parts and 39 jewels, a Gyromax® balance and a Spiromax® balance spring at 21,600 semi-oscillations an hour (3 Hz), and a power reserve of 43 to 48 hours under the Patek Philippe Seal. The dial uses two settings: its centre is paved with 54 baguette-cut diamonds in invisible setting, its hour ring with 160 brilliant-cut diamonds in snow setting, and 12 multicoloured baguette-cut sapphires mark the hours on the 18K gold plate; the rose gold baton-style hands carry white luminescent coating.
For collectors
Patek Philippe totals the stones — 52 multicoloured sapphires (3.19 cts), 112 baguette-cut diamonds (7.31 cts) and 160 brilliant-cut diamonds (0.72 ct) — and the hour ring's 160 brilliants are the one place snow setting is used, the rest being invisible setting. The three interchangeable straps are Patek Philippe's own argument for the watch's casual side.
