Red gold bezel and caseback over a carbon caseband
The photograph shows an RM 65-01 with a red gold bezel and caseback over a black carbon caseband, a red inner flange, black bezel screws and a black rubber strap, alongside the model’s colour-coded displays in yellow, green, orange and blue.
The record was filed as "RM 65-01 FQ" — FQ being Richard Mille’s code for Quartz TPT®, which does not describe this watch — and a second record, filed as "RM 65-01 RG Carbon TPT", photographed the same piece from a slightly different angle. The owner resolved the pair: this record was renamed RM 65-01 CA RG, carbon and red gold, and the duplicate was removed. The copy follows the surviving label and the photograph.
Mechanically it is the standard RM 65-01: the calibre RMAC4 running at 36,000 vph with a split-seconds chronograph, a rapid-winding pusher at 8 o’clock and a function selector built into the crown.

- Calibre RMAC4Skeletonised automatic winding movement with hours, minutes, seconds at 6 o’clock, date, split-seconds chronograph with a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock, function selector, rapid winding and variable-geometry rotor. It measures 31.78 × 29.98 mm by 8.69 mm thick, on 51 jewels at 36,000 vph (5 Hz), with around 60 hours (± 10%) of power reserve without the chronograph running.
- Red gold and carbon caseA 5N red gold bezel and caseback are set over a Carbon TPT® caseband, the composite’s striation visible along the flanks and in the lug strips. The crown and chronograph pushers are grade 5 titanium.
- Split-seconds architectureTwo six-column wheels with a vertical clutch. The 5 Hz frequency allows elapsed times to be read to a tenth of a second. Richard Mille records shock and drop simulations, accelerated ten-year ageing of the functions, water-resistance testing and magnetic field trials for the chronograph.
- Rapid windingThe pusher at 8 o’clock rearms the barrel directly, without the crown; 125 presses take it to a full charge. Richard Mille specifies it for restarting a watch that has stopped.
- Baseplate and bridgesGrade 5 titanium, wet sandblasted with PVD and electroplasma treatment, mounted on chassis rubbers rather than a casing ring.
- Variable-geometry rotorThe oscillating weight segment can be reconfigured to change the rotor’s inertia, and so the winding yield, according to how active the wearer is.
- Colour codingThe dial is coded by function rather than decorated: yellow for the time, green for the date, orange for the chronograph displays, red for winding and blue for the split-seconds hand.
