Overview
Black Carbon TPT® case with a Yellow Quartz TPT® caseband
The RM 65-01 Split-Seconds Chronograph LeBron James was released in 2025 in a limited edition of 150 pieces, Richard Mille’s first collaboration with a basketball player. The case combines Black Carbon TPT® with a Yellow Quartz TPT® middle section; the strap is a yellow rubber-textile.
The skeletonised dial carries green, purple and yellow accents and the LeBron James logo at 12 o’clock, with his signature applied to the sapphire caseback alongside the individual edition number. Richard Mille attributes the yellow and purple to the Los Angeles Lakers and the green detailing to the LeBron James Family Foundation and to his high school in Ohio.
Mechanically it is the standard RM 65-01: the calibre RMAC4 running at 36,000 vph with a split-seconds chronograph, rapid winding and a function selector in the crown.
Key details
Design and engineering
- Calibre RMAC4Skeletonised automatic winding movement with hours, minutes, seconds at 6 o’clock, date, split-seconds chronograph with a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock, function selector, rapid winding and variable-geometry rotor. It measures 31.78 × 29.98 mm by 8.69 mm thick, on 51 jewels at 36,000 vph (5 Hz), with around 60 hours (± 10%) of power reserve without the chronograph running.
- Two-composite caseA Black Carbon TPT® bezel and caseback with a Yellow Quartz TPT® middle case. Both are produced by the same layering process, from divided carbon fibre and silica threads respectively.
- Dial markingsGreen indices, purple and yellow accents, and the LeBron James logo at 12 o’clock. The signature and edition number appear on the sapphire caseback.
- Split-seconds architectureTwo six-column wheels with a vertical clutch. The 5 Hz frequency allows elapsed times to be read to a tenth of a second. Richard Mille records shock and drop simulations, accelerated ten-year ageing of the functions, water-resistance testing and magnetic field trials for the chronograph.
- Rapid windingThe pusher at 8 o’clock rearms the barrel directly, without the crown; 125 presses take it to a full charge. Richard Mille specifies it for restarting a watch that has stopped.
- StrapRubber-textile with a hook-and-loop fastening.
