Overview
A Carbon TPT® case with the green flange and bridges
This execution of the RM 59-01 replaces the translucent carbon nanotube composite with Carbon TPT®, the layered carbon composite. The striated black case carries a green flange and the green and yellow bridges of the original, with a gold-toned crown collar.
The movement architecture is unchanged: the manual winding tourbillon calibre RM59-01 with hours and minutes, carried on a grade 5 titanium baseplate and spanned by anticorodal aluminium bridges. The asymmetric case profile, with its extension between 2 and 5 o’clock keeping the crown clear of the wrist, also carries over.

Design and engineering
- Calibre RM59-01Manual winding skeletonised tourbillon movement with hours and minutes. It measures 30.50 × 28.70 mm by 5.20 mm thick, runs on 19 jewels at 21,600 vph (3 Hz), and provides a power reserve of circa 48 hours. The tourbillon is 10.90 mm in diameter.
- Carbon TPT® caseLayers of parallel carbon filaments, each no thicker than 30 microns, stacked with the fibre orientation rotated between layers and consolidated under heat and pressure. Milling exposes the layers, so the striation pattern differs on every case.
- Anticorodal aluminium bridgesMachined from anticorodal aluminium Pb109 — an alloy of aluminium, magnesium, silicon and lead — the four bridges support the tourbillon carriage and centre-wheel pinion and consolidate the grade 5 titanium baseplate with the case. They are eloxed by anodic oxidation and hand-painted green and yellow, the colours of the Jamaican flag.
- Variable-inertia balanceA Glucydur balance with two arms and four setting screws, a moment of inertia of 11.50 mg·cm² and an angle of lift of 53°, with an Elinvar balance spring by Nivarox and KIF Elastor KE 160 B28 shock protection.
- Torque-limiting crownLimits the torque that can be applied, protecting the movement from overwinding. The case extension between 2 and 5 o’clock keeps it clear of the wrist.
- What is not establishedRichard Mille’s published material for the RM 59-01 describes the carbon nanotube case only. This execution is recorded by dealers and auction listings, but no edition size or year has been confirmed against the brand.
