Grade 5 titanium and Carbon TPT® with automatic CRMT4 tourbillon calibre
Introduced in 2021, the RM 40-01 was developed with McLaren Automotive around the design of the McLaren Speedtail. Production was limited to 106 watches, corresponding to the 106 examples of the Speedtail. The watch uses the in-house automatic CRMT4 tourbillon calibre.
The case narrows from 12 to 6 o’clock and combines grade 5 titanium outer components with a Carbon TPT® middle case. Its architecture required approximately 2,800 hours of development over 18 months and five prototypes.

Design and engineering
- Speedtail-derived case architectureThe case uses a tapered profile developed around the aerodynamic form of the McLaren Speedtail. The titanium bezel incorporates recesses derived from the car’s bonnet openings.
- Carbon TPT® and grade 5 titanium caseThe middle case is Carbon TPT®, while the front bezel and caseback are grade 5 titanium. Titanium pillars of unequal length connect the case structure.
- In-house CRMT4 calibreThe CRMT4 uses a grade 5 titanium baseplate and bridges and combines an automatic tourbillon with an oversize date, power-reserve indicator and function selector.
- Variable-geometry rotorThe automatic winding system uses a variable-geometry rotor that can be adjusted according to the wearer’s activity level.
- Oversize date and function selectorThe oversize date is positioned at 12 o’clock. The function selector is controlled by a pusher at 4 o’clock, while the power-reserve display is positioned at 9 o’clock.
- McLaren-derived movement and case detailsThe winding rotor references the Speedtail bonnet, while the barrel setting follows the car’s roof line. An orange line extending from the case into the strap references the Speedtail’s vertical rear stoplight.
