Overview
A chronograph that tracks match phases and counts goals
Five years of development went into the RM 41-01, a patented tourbillon flyback chronograph developed with Audemars Piguet Le Locle and carrying two complications new to watchmaking: a match-phase indicator and a mechanical goal counter.
The chronograph runs a central minutes counter over a 45-minute scale, with markings for injury time and a separate 15-minute scale for overtime. Each reset of the flyback advances the match-phase display in sequence — first half, second half, first overtime, second overtime — while home and visitor counters register the score. This execution uses Basalt TPT® in Red Carmin, with a Carbon TPT® caseband.

Design and engineering
- Match-phase indicatorAdvances sequentially on each flyback reset, through first half, second half, first overtime and second overtime.
- Mechanical goal countersHome and visitor counters register goals mechanically as they are scored, the second of the two complications new to this calibre.
- Basalt TPT®The newest composite developed with North Thin Ply Technology, derived from volcanic rock. Its 40-micron fibres — against 30 microns for carbon and 45 for silica — are more visible in the finished composite, giving a wood-like grain that takes deep, rich tones. The layers are stacked with a 45° rotation between them.
- Patented double-column-wheel flybackA dedicated column wheel handles the reset, which is normally the most abrupt of the chronograph functions. Calibrated levers give every pusher the same activation pressure.
- PushersMicroblasted titanium with polished bevels, Carbon or Basalt TPT® inserts and 5N gold guards.
- Function indicatorThree titanium plates against a lacquered background, showing whether the watch is in winding, neutral or hand-setting.
