Overview
Bezel and caseback assembled directly onto the baseplate
The RM 27-02, released in 2015, does away with the separation between movement and case. The skeletonised baseplate is NTPT carbon, and the bezel and caseback are assembled directly onto it, so no additional structure is needed to join the two. Richard Mille describes the result as a unibody, taking the principle from racing car chassis construction.
The case measures 47.77 × 39.70 × 12.25 mm in NTPT carbon and Quartz TPT, materials co-developed with North Thin Ply Technology. The tourbillon weighs 3.35 grammes, the power reserve is 70 hours, and the movement is certified to withstand 5,000 g. The edition runs to 50 pieces.
