The reference 7140 is the perpetual calendar Patek Philippe presented under the name Ladies First: the self-winding calibre 240 Q, which the brand calls its famous ultra-thin automatic, in a case 35.1 mm across and 8.55 mm high with a bezel set with 68 diamonds (0.68 ct) and a prong buckle set with 27 more (0.23 ct), 95 diamonds in all (0.91 ct).
The calibre 240 winds through a 22K gold minirotor set off-centre into the movement rather than a full rotor turning above it, which is why Patek Philippe calls it ultra-thin: the complete calibre 240 Q is 3.88 mm high across 27.5 mm, with 275 parts and 27 jewels. The calendar is read by hands — day, date, month, leap year and a 24-hour indication — with the moon phases in an aperture. It runs at 21,600 semi-oscillations an hour on a Gyromax® balance with a Spiromax® balance spring, for a power reserve of 38 to 48 hours, and carries the Patek Philippe Seal.
