The Patek Philippe Complications Annual Calendar, Moon Phases, Joaillerie, reference 4948R-001, in rose gold set with 388 diamonds (3.07 cts), with a white Balinese mother-of-pearl dial, on a pearly white alligator strap. Self-winding calibre 26-330 S QA LU with day and month by hands, date and moon phases in apertures; 38 mm, 11 mm high.
The reference 4948R-001 is the Joaillerie execution in rose gold: the case and lugs are set with 347 diamonds (2.79 cts), the crown with 14 diamonds (0.06 ct) and the buckle with 27 diamonds (0.22 ct), a total Patek Philippe gives as 388 diamonds (3.07 cts). The dial is white Balinese mother-of-pearl with rose gold applied numerals and rose gold leaf-shaped hands with white luminescent coating, on a hand-stitched pearly white alligator strap with a diamond-set rose gold prong buckle.
The reference 4948R-001 is one of a group of Patek Philippe Annual Calendars with moon phases built on the same movement and the same 38 mm case, 11 mm high, which the brand presents as a size to suit all wrists. The calendar here reads differently from the brand's aperture layouts: day and month are shown by hands, with the date and the moon phases in apertures. All have leaf-shaped hands with white luminescent coating.
The self-winding calibre 26-330 S QA LU carries the brand's Annual Calendar mechanism, which Patek Philippe says it invented and patented, and which needs one correction a year: the day and month hands and the date aperture advance on their own for the rest of it. The moon phases sit in an aperture with the date, and the seconds sweep from the centre. The movement measures 32 mm across and 5.32 mm high, with 319 parts and 34 jewels, winds through a 21K gold central rotor, runs at 28,800 semi-oscillations an hour on a Gyromax® balance with a Spiromax® balance spring, has a power reserve of 35 to 45 hours, and carries the Patek Philippe Seal, which the sapphire crystal case back is there to show.
