A black ceramic bezel with a monochrome flange
The RM 61-01 was unveiled in 2014 as a time-only companion to the RM 59-01 tourbillon, sharing that watch’s asymmetric case geometry but built around the manual winding calibre RMUL2. The bezel and caseback are TZP-N black ceramic; the caseband is NTPT® carbon.
This is the monochrome treatment: the green and yellow of the original Jamaican colourway are replaced by a pale flange and matching bridges and hands, on a white rubber strap. The case retains the elongation between 2 and 5 o’clock that keeps the crown clear of the wrist, and the two large crown protectors.

Design and engineering
- Calibre RMUL2Manual winding skeletonised movement with a power reserve of 55 hours, built on a grade 5 titanium baseplate and bridges treated with PVD and Titalyt®. The movement is 3.15 mm thick, runs on 24 jewels at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), and weighs 4.3 grams.
- TZP-N ceramicA black ceramic composed of 95% zirconium compound stabilised with yttrium, with a density of 6 g/cm³. Richard Mille specifies it for scratch resistance and a low coefficient of thermal conductivity, finished matte on top with hand-polished bevelled angles at the sides.
- NTPT® carbon casebandMultiple layers of parallel filaments obtained by dividing carbon fibre, consolidated under pressure and machined so that the layer structure is exposed.
- Asymmetric caseThe case is drawn out between 2 and 5 o’clock so that the crown does not rub against the wrist, and the left side is lower and thinner than the right.
- Crown and crown protectorsThe crown is NTPT carbon with an Alcryn collar and a torque-limiting system, flanked by two large protectors that shield it during activity.
- Shock resistanceValidation testing for the RM 61-01 was carried out in excess of 5,000 g.
