Earth seen from Mars, reflected in an astronaut’s visor
The RM 52-05 was made with Pharrell Williams, and its subject is a reversal: rather than looking out at space, the wearer looks at an imagined Martian scene in which Earth appears as a reflection in an astronaut’s helmet. It is a limited edition of 30 pieces.
The helmet is sculpted in grade 5 titanium and hand painted white with an airbrush. The visor is 5N gold, engraved with burins made for the purpose, grand feu enamelled and then hand painted. The bezel ring and caseback are brown Cermet, affixed to a Carbon TPT® caseband, on an orange strap.

- Brown CermetA high-tech material combining the lightness of titanium with the hardness of ceramic, used for the bezel ring and caseback.
- Hand-painted helmet and spacesuitGrade 5 titanium, airbrushed white using equipment originally developed for the street artist Cyril Kongo, with two diamond-set white gold elements for floodlights and a black sapphire for a camera.
- Engraved and enamelled visor5N gold, engraved with burins made for the purpose, grand feu enamelled and then hand painted. The engraving captures Valles Marineris, whose rock face rises some seven kilometres above the surrounding plains.
- Enamel gradientsThe orange-to-red and blue-to-black transitions were achieved by superimposing layers and increasing the number of firings at 850 °C.
- Baseplate with aventurine insertsLarge inserts of blue aventurine glass in the grade 5 titanium baseplate, with skeletonised grade 5 titanium bridges shaped to evoke rocket launch platforms.
- Space detailing on the exteriorThe hands suggest satellite panels, the crown is based on a rocket capsule, and the crown surround carries the profile of a Martian rover tyre.
