Red sapphire with a ruby-set skull to match
The RM 52-04 was made in two sapphire colourways, blue and red. This is the red one, and it is the version that carries the ruby setting: the skull inside is set with rubies picked to match the case, so the watch reads as a single colour with the setting adding the sparkle rather than a contrast.
The case is red sapphire through bezel, caseband and caseback. The strap is white.

Design and engineering
- Red sapphire caseMilled and ground from blocks of coloured synthetic sapphire, a material rating 1,800 Vickers and effectively scratch-proof except by diamond. Breakage through the process is common enough to account for much of the cost.
- Ruby-set skullThe rubies are matched to the case colour, so the setting reads as texture rather than as an applied decoration.
- Skull as baseplate and bridgesGrade 5 titanium cut to the form of a skull, with the upper and lower jaws holding the ruby of the tourbillon cage and the back of the skull acting as the centre bridge.
- Four connecting bridgesRunning from the movement to the caseband, in the crossed-bones form used across the Skull collection.
- Manual-winding tourbillonHours and minutes; there is no separate dial plate, the movement performing that role.
- Openworked bezelCut away, so the structure is legible from the front as well as through the case sides.
