Pink Quartz TPT®, rated to 10,000 g, 50 pieces
The RM 38-02 is the fourth watch of the Bubba Watson collection and the third tourbillon calibre made for him. It was released in 2022 in an edition of 50 pieces, in the pink Watson had asked Richard Mille for since the partnership began.
The case combines pink Quartz TPT®, white Quartz TPT® and Carbon TPT®, and is asymmetrical — tapered so that the crown does not press against the wrist through a swing. A golf ball undergoes acceleration of up to 50,000 g in the modern game; the RM 38-02 was built to withstand shocks of at least 10,000 g. The strap is white rubber.

Design and engineering
- Carbon TPT® baseplateMany layers of parallel carbon filaments, demanding to machine both for its hardness and for the degree of skeletonisation applied to it. Extensive testing was carried out to confirm that the skeletonisation did not affect its mechanical properties.
- Grade 5 titanium bridgesSupported on the composite baseplate, holding the involute gear wheels and the 10.90 mm tourbillon with its variable-inertia balance.
- Pink titanium tubesThe openworked bridge incorporates two tubes running through the movement on either side, in grade 5 titanium hand painted in pink.
- Asymmetrical caseTapered to cancel friction between the torque-limiting crown and the wrist, a shape carried over from earlier watches in the collection.
- Three-material casePink Quartz TPT®, white Quartz TPT® and Carbon TPT® combined without merging — Richard Mille describes the association of the different colours and materials as the principal technical challenge of the exterior.
- Micro-perforated caseback bridgePicked out in pink, echoing the pattern on Watson’s driver.
