White Quartz TPT® over a Carbon TPT® caseband
One of the two configurations the RM 35-03 launched with in 2021: a white Quartz TPT® bezel and caseback over a Carbon TPT® middle section, the dark caseband visible between them. A blue ring frames the dial aperture, the crown is pale blue rubber-clad and the strap pale blue. The other launch configuration is Carbon TPT® throughout.
The RM 35-03 is the fourth watch in the RM 035 collection and introduces the butterfly rotor, a patented winding mechanism that hands control of the automatic winding to the wearer. Pressing the pusher at 7 o’clock — sport mode — deploys the rotor’s two weights through 180°, returning the centre of gravity to the middle so that the rotor is balanced and stops winding the barrel. An ON/OFF indicator at 6 o’clock shows the current state.
This record duplicates card 295, which carries the same watch under the bare reference "RM 35-03" and already holds authored copy. The two are flagged rather than merged; that card holds the stock row, this one the more descriptive label.

Design and engineering
- Butterfly rotorTwo weights in grade 5 titanium and metal. In their initial position they displace the centre of gravity radially, generating the torque that winds the barrel. Pressing the sport-mode pusher at 7 o’clock deploys them through 180° via a dedicated gear train, recentring the mass, balancing the rotor and cancelling its winding power. Three years of development.
- Why the rotor can be switched offThe point is protection rather than convenience: high-intensity activity would otherwise wind the barrel far faster than it is designed for. Salvador Arbona, Technical Director for Movements, compares it to a driver switching a transmission into sport mode. Earlier Richard Mille automatics used a variable-geometry rotor whose setting only an authorised watchmaker could change.

- Function selectorA push-button at 2 o’clock selects winding, neutral and hand-setting, with a hand at 2 o’clock displaying the selected mode.
- Baseplate and bridges in grade 5 titaniumBlack PVD and electroplasma treated. The baseplate is wet sandblasted with grey electroplasma treatment; the bridges are hand ground, wet sandblasted and Titalyt® or PVD treated, with hand-polished locking sections, burnished pivots and pinions with undercuts.
- Case in Carbon TPT® and Quartz TPT®Layers of carbon filament no thicker than 30 microns, or silica thread no thicker than 45, impregnated with resin, woven with the weft rotated 45° between layers, heated to 120 °C at 6 bar and machined on CNC at Richard Mille.
- FlangeMicroblasted grade 5 titanium, punctuated with the numerals 3, 6, 9 and 12, which slant inwards.
