Overview
Carbon TPT® case, four-gram manual calibre RMUL3
Introduced in 2014, the RM 35-01 replaced the RM 035’s alumagnesium case with Carbon TPT® and its calibre RMUL1 with the RMUL3. The movement is manual winding and skeletonised, showing hours, minutes and seconds, and weighs four grams in total. Richard Mille tested it under shocks exceeding 5,000 g.
The Carbon TPT® case carries the layer striations characteristic of the material, unique to each piece. The crown is red, the flange holds the yellow RM35-01 RAFA plaque, and the watch is fitted to a red fabric strap.

Design and engineering
- Carbon TPT® caseMultiple layers of woven carbon filaments averaging 30 microns in thickness, stacked with a 45° change of fibre orientation between every two successive layers, then cured and machined. Richard Mille states that the material reduces the rate of occurrence of breaking stresses by 25% and of micro-cracks by 200% relative to conventional composites.
- Calibre RMUL3Grade 5 titanium throughout the skeletonised movement with black PVD surface treatment, giving impact resistance in a four-gram assembly. The baseplate is wet sandblasted, PVD treated and hand drawn after treatment; the bridges are hand ground, wet sandblasted and Titalyt® treated.
- Double-barrel systemTwo barrels supply the 55-hour reserve and even out torque delivery across it.
- Free-sprung balance with variable inertiaGlucydur®, two arms and four setting screws, running at 4 Hz without a regulator index.
- Shock testingRichard Mille’s engineers at Les Breuleux applied shocks exceeding 5,000 g to the calibre.
- Interior flangeUpper flange in black carbon fibre with the hour index points filled with luminous material.
