Red gold execution of the RMAR2 declutchable-rotor calibre
The RM 30-01 replaced both the RM 029 and the RM 030 in the Richard Mille collection in 2023, and was launched in grade 5 titanium and 18K 5N red gold. It carries the calibre RMAR2, which adds an integrated function selector and a revised declutching mechanism to the architecture established by the RMAR1.
The skeletonised display is laid out on a diamond-based geometry, with the clutch engagement indicator at the upper left, the function-selector hand at 3 o’clock, the oversize date in a horizontal aperture at 4 o’clock and the power-reserve scale sweeping the upper half of the dial.

Design and engineering
- Declutchable variable-geometry rotorWhen the power reserve reaches 55 hours the rotor is declutched by a purpose-built gear train and disengaged from the barrel; when the reserve falls to 40 hours it re-clutches and a further winding phase begins.
- Clutch engagement indicatorPositioned at the upper left of the dial, it reports whether the rotor is winding (on) or disengaged (off).
- Function selectorA pusher at 2 o’clock selects winding, date setting or hand setting, in the manner of a gearbox; a hand at 3 o’clock displays the mode selected.
- Oversize dateSemi-instantaneous, in a horizontal aperture at 4 o’clock.
- Double-barrel systemEnergy is distributed across two barrels rather than one, increasing the number of rotations and reducing pressure on teeth, bearings and pivots.
- Case constructionTripartite, water resistant to 50 metres by two Nitrile O-ring seals, assembled with 20 grade 5 titanium spline screws and abrasion-resistant 316L stainless steel washers. No casing ring is used; the movement sits on chassis mounting rubbers (ISO SW) fixed by grade 5 titanium screws.
