This execution of the RM 17-02 uses blue ceramic. TZP is Richard Mille’s designation for black and coloured ceramic. Dealer listings for the blue version describe a red gold caseband and an edition of 30 pieces; neither figure appears in Richard Mille’s own published material for the model, and neither is entered here.

Design and engineering
- TZP ceramicTetragonal zirconia polycrystal ceramic combines high scratch resistance with low thermal conductivity, and can be finished by brushing or microblasting with hand-polished anglage.
- Movement finishingThe grade 5 titanium baseplate carries a black PVD treatment; the bridges are treated in blue PVD and 5N gold. The finishes are visible from both the dial side and the caseback.
- Function indicatorA hand at 4 o’clock shows winding, neutral or hand-setting as the crown is drawn out.
- Fast-rotating barrelOne revolution every 6 hours instead of 7.5, giving more consistent torque delivery.
- Free-sprung balance with variable inertiaThe regulator index is eliminated in favour of adjustable weights carried on the balance.
