Overview
Brown Cermet bezel with red gold caseband and green-treated flange
Released in 2022, this RM 17-01 uses a brown Cermet bezel with a red gold caseband. Cermet is a ceramic-metal composite with a hardness of 2,360 Vickers, used in ballistic protection, in aerospace for re-entry and fuselage components, and in competition vehicle brakes. Its hardness suits it to the bezel, the case area most exposed to abrasion.
The sapphire dial is protected by a crystal with anti-glare treatment on both faces and carries a grade 5 titanium flange with green galvanic treatment, a contrasting yellow minute track and the Richard Mille logo.

- CermetA composite combining ceramic and metal, with a hardness of 2,360 Vickers. Richard Mille cites its use in ballistic protection, aerospace re-entry components and competition braking systems.
- Grade 5 titanium bridgesSupported by the skeletonised baseplate, the bridges flank the great wheel at the top of the movement and the 12.30 mm tourbillon at the bottom.
- Shock resistanceThe RM017 movement is specified to withstand more than 5,000 g.
- Flange and dial treatmentThe grade 5 titanium flange carries a green galvanic treatment with a yellow minute track, beneath a sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-glare treatment.
- Function indicatorA hand at 4 o’clock indicates hand-setting (H), neutral (N) or winding (W) as the crown is drawn out. The crown itself carries a torque-limiting system.
