The RM 12-01 in layered red Quartz TPT® with Carbon TPT®, one of the four 2018 executions. Machining across the two materials exposes the striations, which differ on every case.
The skeletonised movement shows grade 5 titanium bridges shaped like tension cables. The watch is on a red rubber strap with a titanium deployment clasp. The edition ran to 18 pieces, sold exclusively through Richard Mille boutiques in the Americas.

Design and engineering
- Red Quartz TPT® with Carbon TPT®Layers of silica are inserted between layers of carbon and impregnated with a red resin, then cured and machined. The cut across the layers produces the marbled red and black pattern.
- Tension-cable bridgesThe grade 5 titanium bridges are shaped like tension cables, an arrangement intended to maximise shock resistance while leaving the movement open to view.
- Unibody baseplateCaseband and baseplate fused into a single piece, giving resistance to accelerations over 5,000 g.
- Fixed barrelThe fixed barrel system delivers consistent torque to the tourbillon and gives a 70-hour running time.
- Case fittingsDLC-treated grade 5 titanium screws secure the construction; sapphire crystals on both sides; bezel-integrated pushers.
- Case construction48.00 × 39.30 × 13.84 mm, water-resistant to 50 metres.
