The RM 12-01 revisits the movement architecture of the RM 012 in a manual winding tourbillon with a unibody baseplate, and was released in 2018 in four 18-piece limited editions for Richard Mille boutiques in the Americas: all Carbon TPT®; Carbon TPT® with red Quartz TPT®; Carbon TPT® with white Quartz TPT®; and Carbon TPT® with Carbon and Gold TPT®.

Design and engineering
- Unibody baseplateThe caseband and baseplate are fused into a single piece, an arrangement drawn from racing-car chassis construction. It gives the movement rigidity sufficient to withstand accelerations of more than 5,000 g.
- Titanium bridgesGrade 5 titanium skeletonised bridges flank the great wheel at the top of the movement and the tourbillon at the bottom, supported by the baseplate.
- Relationship to the RM 012The architecture derives from the RM 012 of 2006, whose tubular Phynox structure replaced the conventional baseplate and which won the Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.
- Power reserveA fixed barrel delivers consistent torque to the tourbillon; the movement runs for 70 hours.
