Overview
Black TZP ceramic bezels around a satin-finished red gold case middle
The Black Toro is a numbered 50-piece limited edition sold exclusively through Richard Mille boutiques and authorised retailers in the Americas, named after Rafael Nadal’s nickname, El Toro. The tripartite case combines top and bottom bezels in black TZP ceramic, blasted for a matte finish, with a satin-finished 18K red gold case middle and a transparent sapphire caseback.
The crown is NTPT carbon with a black rubber protector and the inner bezel is black. The hands, the Richard Mille signature, the flange markings and the applied RM035 AMERICAS plaque are executed in gold. It is fitted to a black rubber strap with a satin-finished black DLC titanium buckle.

Design and engineering
- Black TZP ceramic bezelsTZP is Richard Mille’s designation for black and coloured ceramic. The top and bottom bezels are blasted for a matte surface and secured by spline screws.
- Satin-finished red gold case middleThe 18K red gold caseband sits between the two ceramic bezels, the single warm element in an otherwise black exterior.
- Gold dial furnitureThe hands, the Richard Mille signature, the flange track and the applied RM035 AMERICAS plaque are all gold, against black ceramic and a skeletonised movement.
- Chronofiable® certificationCarried across the RM 035 family since the 2011 original. The test compresses roughly six months of wear into 21 days, covering movement function, rate, amplitude at 0 °C and 50 °C, power reserve and winding velocity, along with linear and angular accelerations and some 20,000 shocks from 250 to 5,500 m/s².
- Skeletonised movement at 4.3 gramsA PVD-treated titanium baseplate with bridges and balance cock in Titalyt®-treated titanium, for rigidity and surface flatness. The skeletonisation took a year to finalise.
- Movement mountingNo casing ring is used; the movement sits on chassis mounting rubbers (ISO SW) fixed by four titanium screws.
