Overview
Carbon nanofibre baseplate execution
Introduced in 2005, the V2 replaced the grade 5 titanium baseplate of the V1 with carbon nanofibre. The material was selected for dimensional stability: differing temperature coefficients between movement components can disturb the going train, and a thermally stable baseplate provides a consistent foundation beneath the split-seconds mechanism.
The V2 also incorporated titanium gear wheels and levers to reduce inertia, and a revised generation of split-seconds components.
