The first Richard Mille wristwatch

The RM 001 is the first watch produced under the Richard Mille name. It was shown at Baselworld in 2000 and launched in 2001, establishing the tonneau case form, exposed movement architecture and materials approach used across the collection that followed.

It was produced as a pre-series run of seventeen pieces in two groups. The first eleven were built on a German silver baseplate finished in black PVD; the final six used a grade 5 titanium baseplate, which became standard on later references. Development was carried out by Richard Mille with Renaud & Papi.
