Overview
The tourbillon on a carbon nanofibre baseplate, in red gold
An RM 002-V2 in brushed red gold, on a black strap. The skeletonised movement shows the tourbillon at 6 o’clock, with the power-reserve scale at the top left, the torque indicator at the top right and the W N H function indicator above 5 o’clock.
In 2005, after the carbon nanofibre baseplate had been tested in the RM 006, Richard Mille extended the material to its tourbillons, and the RM 002 became the V2. Moulded at 7,500 N/cm² and 2,000 °C, carbon nanofibre is amorphous, chemically neutral and dimensionally stable within a wide range of temperatures.
