Overview
The first production Richard Mille tourbillon, in red gold
An RM 002-V1 in brushed red gold, on a black strap. There is no opaque dial: the tourbillon at 6 o’clock, the power-reserve and torque indicators and the function indicator all sit in the open movement.
Presented in 2001, the RM 002 was the serial production model of the first RM 001 prototype, and the V1 inaugurated the world’s first use of a function selector. It was conceived like a Formula 1 car, with chassis and engine developed in complete harmony: there is no casing ring, and the movement rests on chassis mounting rubbers fixed by four titanium screws.
