Overview
A Nautilus for the desk, with eight days of running
The Patek Philippe Nautilus desk clock, reference 958G-001, in white gold with a sunburst blue dial and baguette diamond hour markers (0.96 ct). Manually wound calibre 31-505 8J PS IRM CI J with an 8-day power reserve, instantaneous date and day and small seconds; 50.65 mm from 10 to 4 o'clock, 13.5 mm high.
The reference 958G-001 is a desk clock in the form of a Nautilus, made for the collection's 50th anniversary in white gold and issued, Patek Philippe says, in a limited edition of 100 pieces. The case is 50.65 mm from 10 to 4 o'clock and 13.5 mm high, protected against humidity and dust but not water-resistant, with a sapphire crystal back under a hinged dust cover. Its stand is a hinged cover whose inner face is a second sunburst blue dial, horizontally embossed, with a satin-brushed applied Calatrava cross in white gold; a circle on the case back carries the anniversary inscription.
The movement is the manually wound calibre 31-505 8J PS IRM CI J: 32 mm across, 5.05 mm high, 256 parts, 28 jewels. Twin barrels give it a power reserve of at least 192 hours — 8 days — read on an indicator at 12 o'clock, so the clock is wound once a week rather than daily; the date is shown by a hand and the day of the week in an aperture, both instantaneous, so they jump at midnight rather than creeping over, with small seconds at 6 o'clock. It runs at 28,800 semi-oscillations an hour on a Spiromax® balance spring and carries the Patek Philippe Seal. The dial is sunburst blue, horizontally embossed, with baguette-cut diamond hour markers (0.96 ct) and white gold rounded baton-style hands with white luminescent coating.
For collectors
Among the anniversary references, this is the one with a complication — an 8-day movement with instantaneous day and date — and the one built as an object rather than a watch: the hinged cover that props it up carries its own Nautilus dial, and the anniversary inscription sits on a circle on the case back rather than on a rotor.
