Overview
The Officer's-style Calatrava at 34.6 mm
The Patek Philippe Calatrava, reference 7200/50G-012, in white gold with a sunburst ice blue dial, white gold Breguet numerals, pear-shaped hands and cabochon minute markers, on a pearly ice-blue alligator strap. Ultra-thin self-winding calibre 240 with a 22K gold minirotor, hours and minutes, in the Officer's-style case with straight lugs; 34.6 mm, 7.37 mm high.
This execution pairs a sunburst ice blue dial with a pearly ice-blue alligator strap, which Patek Philippe presents as one tone carried across dial and strap; numerals, hands, minute-scale cabochons and prong buckle are white gold.
The reference 7200 is the Calatrava the brand presents as its ladies' model in an Officer's-style case: straight lugs, a case 34.6 mm across and 7.37 mm high, and a dial with nothing on it but hours and minutes, read through applied Breguet numerals and pear-shaped hands.
The movement is the self-winding calibre 240, which Patek Philippe describes as ultra-thin: 27.5 mm across and 2.53 mm high, with 152 parts and 27 jewels, wound by a 22K gold minirotor set off-centre and recessed into the movement rather than turning above it, which is what keeps the calibre at that height and the case at 7.37 mm. It runs at 21,600 semi-oscillations an hour on a Gyromax® balance with a Spiromax® balance spring, for a power reserve of at least 48 hours, and carries the Patek Philippe Seal. A sapphire crystal case back shows it; the case is water-resistant to 30 m.
For collectors
There is no seconds hand and no date: the calibre 240 here is the plain time-only version, and Patek Philippe ties the slender profile of the watch to the calibre's height rather than to the case design. The Officer's-style case is defined by Patek Philippe by its straight lugs.
