Overview
The Grandmaster Chime, invisibly set
The Patek Philippe Grand Complications Grandmaster Chime, Haute Joaillerie, reference 6300/400G-001, in white gold set with 409 baguette-cut diamonds in invisible setting, reversible case with ebony black opaline dials, on a shiny black alligator strap. Manually wound calibre GS AL 36-750 QIS FUS IRM with 20 complications on three gongs; 49.4 mm, 16.32 mm high.
The reference 6300 in its Haute Joaillerie form is the Grandmaster Chime — Patek Philippe calls it the most complicated piece in Patek Philippe's current collection, with twenty complications — in a white gold case set with baguette-cut stones in invisible setting on the caseband, the sides of the lugs and the swivel links of the reversible case. The case is double-faced, 49.4 mm across and 16.32 mm high, turned over on a patented rotation mechanism so either dial can be worn up; it is humidity- and dust-protected only, with a sapphire crystal back. Both dials are ebony black opaline on 18K solid gold plates, the time side hand-guilloched with a hobnail pattern.
The calibre GS AL 36-750 QIS FUS IRM is hand-wound, 37 mm across and 10.7 mm high, with 1,366 parts and 108 jewels, at 25,200 semi-oscillations an hour (3.5 Hz) on a Spiromax® balance spring, under the Patek Philippe Seal; the movement holds 72 hours of reserve and the strikework 30, each with its own indication. Five chiming modes strike on three classic gongs — grande sonnerie, petite sonnerie, minute repeater, an alarm with time strike and a date repeater — with a strikework mode display, an alarm on/off aperture and an isolator indication. The time side shows home and local time on white gold pear-shaped hands, the local hand skeletonised and white varnished, with a day/night indication for the second zone and a crown position indication; the calendar side carries an instantaneous perpetual calendar with day, month and leap year by hands, the date on both dials, a four-digit year in an aperture, and the moon phases.
