The Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual Calendar, reference 5740/1G-001, in white gold on the white gold bracelet, sunburst blue dial, horizontally embossed. Self-winding calibre 240 Q with day, date, month, leap year and 24-hour indication by hands and the moon phases in an aperture; 40 mm from 10 to 4 o'clock, 8.42 mm high.
The reference 5740/1G-001 is the Nautilus with a perpetual calendar, in white gold on a white gold bracelet with a sunburst blue dial, horizontally embossed. Patek Philippe calls it the first Grand Complication in the Nautilus collection and the thinnest of Patek Philippe's perpetual calendars; both are its own statements about its range. The case is 40 mm from 10 to 4 o'clock and 8.42 mm high, with a screw-down crown and a sapphire crystal back.
The movement is the self-winding calibre 240 Q, which Patek Philippe calls ultra-thin: 27.5 mm across, 3.88 mm high, 275 parts, 27 jewels. Its height comes from the base calibre 240, whose 22K gold minirotor is set off-centre and recessed into the movement rather than turning above it, so the calendar work sits on a thin base rather than a tall one. Day, date, month, leap year and the 24-hour indication are shown by hands, the moon phases in an aperture. It runs at 21,600 semi-oscillations an hour on a Gyromax® balance with a Spiromax® balance spring, with 38 to 48 hours of power reserve, and carries the Patek Philippe Seal.
