Overview

A World Time that keeps the local date

The Patek Philippe Complications World Time, Date, reference 5330G-001, in white gold with an opaline blue-grey 'carbon' pattern dial and a blue-grey city disk, on a blue-grey denim-pattern calfskin strap. Self-winding calibre 240 HU C with all 24 time zones and a date indexed to local time; 40 mm, 11.57 mm high.

The reference 5330G-001 is Patek Philippe's World Time with date in the Complications collection, which the brand presents as the latest generation of its World Time models and as a patented world first: a date display that follows local time, the time zone chosen at 12 o'clock and shown by the central hands. The date is read on a bevelled silvery dial flange by a transparent glass hand, hammer-shaped, with a red-varnished tip. The case is white gold, fully polished, 40 mm across and 11.57 mm high, on a blue-grey denim-pattern calfskin strap with a white gold fold-over clasp.

The calibre 240 HU C is the ultra-thin self-winding World Time calibre with a 22K gold off-centre minirotor, extended by a date. The city at 12 o'clock is selected with a pusher at 10 o'clock, and the central hands show that city's local time, with the 24-hour and day/night indication for all 24 time zones around the dial. What Patek Philippe adds is a patented differential system that moves the date with the selected local time, so the date never has to be reset after a zone change. The movement measures 30.5 mm across and 4.58 mm high, with 306 parts and 37 jewels, runs at 21,600 semi-oscillations an hour on a Gyromax® balance with a Spiromax® balance spring, has a power reserve of 38 to 48 hours, and carries the Patek Philippe Seal.

For collectors

Patek Philippe's claim for this reference is the local date, which it calls a patented world first — its own account. The date is indicated by a transparent glass hand with a red-varnished tip, read against the bevelled silvery flange.
