Overview
Eight days on one winding
The Patek Philippe Complications 8-day Power Reserve, Instantaneous Day and Date, reference 5328G-001, in white gold with a hobnail-guilloched caseband, a textured blue dial with a black-gradient rim, on a navy blue calfskin strap. Manually wound calibre 31-505 8J PS IRM CI J with an eight-day power reserve; 41 mm, 10.52 mm high.
The reference 5328G-001 is Patek Philippe's Calatrava with an eight-day power reserve and instantaneous day and date displays, in the Complications collection. The case is white gold, 41 mm across and 10.52 mm high, with the whole circumference of the caseband guilloched in the hobnail pattern Patek Philippe calls its emblematic Clous de Paris. The dial is textured blue with a rim shading to black, with applied numerals and syringe-shaped hour and minute hands in white gold, both with white luminescent coating. It comes on a navy blue calfskin strap with a fabric pattern and cream stitching, closed by a white gold triple-blade fold-over clasp Patek Philippe describes as new and patented, with a second strap in grained taupe calfskin.
The calibre 31-505 8J PS IRM CI J is manually wound and new, by Patek Philippe's account, with a power reserve of at least 192 hours — eight days — shown by an indication on the dial. The day of the week sits in an aperture and the date is read by a hand, and both jump instantaneously at midnight rather than crawling across the change; small seconds are at 6 o'clock. The escapement is the brand's Pulsomax® in Silinvar®, with a Spiromax® balance spring, running at 28,800 semi-oscillations an hour. The movement measures 32 mm across and 5.05 mm high, with 256 parts and 28 jewels, and carries the Patek Philippe Seal, visible through the sapphire crystal case back.
For collectors
Two things separate this reference from the brand's other Calatravas: the eight-day reserve, which Patek Philippe presents as the distinguishing feature, and the instantaneous jump of both calendar displays at midnight. The second strap, in grained taupe calfskin, is listed by Patek Philippe as part of the delivery.
