Overview
The perpetual calendar chronograph, set with baguettes
The Patek Philippe Grand Complications Chronograph, Perpetual Calendar, Joaillerie, reference 5271/11P-010, in platinum with bezel and lugs set with 58 baguette-cut blue sapphires, a lacquered blue dial with black-gradient rim, on a shiny black alligator strap with a sapphire-set clasp. Manually wound calibre CH 29-535 PS Q; 41 mm, 12.7 mm high.
The 5271/11P-010 sets the bezel and lugs with 58 baguette-cut blue sapphires (4.11 cts) and the clasp with 22 more (1.05 cts), 80 sapphires in all (5.16 cts), against a lacquered blue dial with a black-gradient rim, applied faceted "obus"-style hour markers and dauphine-style hands in white gold, on a shiny black alligator strap with blue stitching.
The reference 5271 is the Joaillerie version of Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar chronograph: the brand's manually wound chronograph movement with perpetual calendar in a platinum case whose bezel and lugs are set with 58 baguette-cut stones, with 22 more on the fold-over clasp, with a lacquered dial to answer the stone. The case measures 41 mm across and 12.7 mm high, entirely polished, with a concave bezel and two-tier lugs and a diamond set into the case at 6 o'clock.
The calibre CH 29-535 PS Q is the brand's own chronograph movement with perpetual calendar, wound by hand, and Patek Philippe credits it with six patented innovations on a traditional construction. The chronograph has a central hand and an instantaneous 30-minute counter; the calendar shows the day and month together in a double aperture at 12 o'clock, the day/night and leap year indications in round apertures, and the date by a hand at 6 o'clock, with the moon phases and small seconds. The movement measures 32 mm across and 7.00 mm high, with 456 parts and 33 jewels; it runs at 28,800 semi-oscillations an hour on a Breguet balance spring, has a power reserve of 55 to 65 hours with the chronograph disengaged, and carries the Patek Philippe Seal.
For collectors
Patek Philippe gives 58 baguettes across bezel and lugs and 22 on the clasp, with the dial colour matched to the stone.
