A flying tourbillon in a pebble-shaped case
The Jacob & Co. Brilliant Flying Tourbillon, reference BT546.40.BO.BO.A, in an 18-carat rose gold case, 47 mm across and 14.65 mm high. Its dial is 18-carat rose gold, on a white alligator leather strap with an 18-carat rose gold butterfly deployant buckle. This version is limited to 18 pieces.
Jacob & Co. introduced the Brilliant collection for women in 2017. The cases are round and have no lugs, and the strap is fixed directly to the case. The case is shaped like a pebble, and Jacob & Co. says its rounded edges give the collection its brilliance.
Hand-wound calibre JCBM01 shows its one-minute flying tourbillon through an opening in the dial. The carriage is held only from its base, so there is no upper bridge. A tourbillon keeps the escapement spinning, which counters the effect of gravity on accuracy.
