Invisibly set stones around a flying tourbillon
The Jacob & Co. Brilliant Flying Tourbillon, reference BT546.30.AA.AA.A, in an 18-carat white gold case, 47 mm across and 14.65 mm high. Its case and dial are set with baguette-cut tsavorites, on a white alligator leather strap with an 18-carat white gold butterfly deployant buckle. This version is limited to 18 pieces.
Jacob & Co. introduced the Brilliant collection for women in 2017. The cases are round and have no lugs, and the strap is fixed directly to the case. The case is shaped like a pebble, and Jacob & Co. says its rounded edges give the collection its brilliance. Jacob & Co. says it sets stones only by the invisible technique, so no prongs or visible metal interrupt the surface.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM43 shows hours and minutes with a one-minute flying tourbillon. A flying tourbillon is held only from its base, so there is no upper bridge. The tourbillon keeps the escapement spinning, which counters the effect of gravity on accuracy.
