The Santos-Dumont skeleton with an automatic micro-rotor movement
The Cartier Santos-Dumont skeleton, reference WHSA0043, in an 18-carat yellow gold case, 43.5 x 31.4 mm and 8 mm thick. Automatic calibre 9629 MC with a micro-rotor, on a semi-matte dark grey alligator leather strap with a yellow gold ardillon buckle.
This version is in 18-carat yellow gold, with bridges covered in beige lacquer and a semi-matte dark grey alligator strap.
Cartier dates the Santos-Dumont to 1904 and says Louis Cartier answered the wish of the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont to read the time while flying.
The movement is calibre 9629 MC, 23.2 mm across and 4.4 mm thick. Its balance runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and the power reserve is approximately 44 hours. The crystal and the case back are sapphire.
