Overview
The large Santos de Cartier skeleton in a 47.5 x 39.7 mm case
The Santos de Cartier skeleton, reference WHSA0042, in an 18-carat yellow gold case, 47.5 x 39.7 mm and 9.08 mm thick. Manually wound calibre 9612 MC with skeletonised bridges forming Roman numerals, on an 18-carat yellow gold bracelet with the SmartLink adjustment system.
Cartier traces the Santos de Cartier to 1904, when Louis Cartier met the wish of the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont to tell the time while flying. Cartier names the rounded dial angles, the continuous curve of the horns and the visible screws as the features of its design.
In this skeleton the hours and minutes are read against skeletonised bridges that form Roman numerals. The manually wound calibre 9612 MC has 138 parts including 20 rubies and a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.
